Nyembo Ilunga is the managing director of HOI and serves on the company’s board of directors. He is a registered Canadian professional engineer, with more than 18 years’ experience in the fields of business development, and project management leadership in industrial automation, mining development and power generation. Illunga holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Texas, and an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada.
A highly strategic thinker, Ilunga brings a wealth of expertise and extensive knowledge in the management and development of energy projects in Africa. His expertise covers the execution of projects, which has been greatly enhanced through his intimate knowledge of the African business environment, acquired during his years spent in Luanda, Kinshasa, Johannesburg and Abidjan. Under Illunga’s leadership, more than 1 GW of installed capacity has been commissioned in Africa. He enjoys building and leading multinational collaborative teams and in establishing long-lasting relationships with customers and stakeholders alike.
Before joining HOI, Ilunga was the managing director for francophone Africa at GE Gas Power systems based in the Ivory Coast. He is fluent in English, French and Lingala.
